Air. #poetry

You were like air to my existence
Always around me
A bubble of good will around me
You kept me alive and protected me
Arriving with the force of a few helicopter blades

I just wasn’t ready.

You were like the air around me
I forgot to comprehend that you were a breeze
A gracious, cooling breeze
Cooling my persona in a world full of hellfire
Just like a breeze, you cruised over my chest and back
Inching away, never to turn back
And now you are gone.

Even the deafening helicopter blades are a distant, silent hallo.
